Title IX Resources

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities. We are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all members of our university community. Below, you'll find valuable information about resources available for pregnant and parenting students, as well as information about the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct (OCRSM).

Pregnant and Parenting Students

Under Title IX, our university offers reasonable accommodations, such as schedule adjustments and restroom breaks, to students due to pregnancy and childbirth. These accommodations are determined case-by-case through an interactive dialogue between students and faculty or staff members.

If you are a pregnant or parenting student and need assistance, please reach out to Jamie Brennan at titleixcoordinator@umd.edu or 301-405-1142

The Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct (OCRSM)

The Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct (OCRSM) oversees the University of Maryland's policies against discrimination and harassment, including sexual misconduct. It aims to create a safe and equal learning and working environment. OCRSM, also known as the Title IX Office, manages rules against unfair treatment based on factors like race, gender, and more.
