Communication Access Services
The Communication Access Services (CAS) unit, formerly Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS), provides accommodations to eligible students that include:
- Sign language interpreters
- Real-time transcription
- Post-production captioning
- Assistive listening device loans
Service Providers
We can schedule ASL interpreters and real-time text transcribers.
Post-Production Captioning
We offer accessible media services (e.g., post-production captioning, transcription) to students and departments.
Assistive Listening Devices
You can borrow a device during your time at UMD if you have an ALD accommodation.
Residence Hall Accommodations
You can apply for housing accommodations (e.g., visual fire alarm) through the ADS office.
